How It Works
Choose the file
Choose one M4A or M4B file, up to 100 MB, and wait for it to load. Work through several recordings one at a time.
For example, you can start with a saved M4A voice recording when someone needs an MP3 version. Keep the original recording separately.
Set the bitrate
In Options, set Quality to 128, 192, 256 or 320. These values are kilobits per second (kbps); the default is 192.
Choose a lower bitrate when file size matters more, or a higher one when you can allow a larger file. A higher number won’t recover detail missing from your recording. Listen to the MP3 before you decide which version to keep.
This tool produces MP3. Use Quality under Options for the conversion and leave the separate Output Settings controls at their defaults.
Save the MP3
Click Process M4A to MP3 and listen to the result. For a long recording, check the beginning and a passage near the end. The tool attempts an automatic download shortly after processing; Download lets you save it manually.
If local processing can’t finish, try a smaller file or review the cloud option and its credit charge before continuing.
Questions about M4A to MP3
Yes, M4B is an accepted input extension. Check the saved MP3 before relying on it; do not assume audiobook chapters or tags will carry over.
No. M4A is a container commonly used for AAC or Apple Lossless audio. The source encoding affects what conversion can preserve. Keep the original file and do not assume that its extension alone tells you whether the audio is lossless.
