Start with the problem you can see. Restoration Type lets you choose blur, noise or JPEG artifacts, rather than treating every old photo the same way.
How It Works
Choose a restoration type
| What you see | Where to start |
|---|---|
| Soft or blurred detail | Choose Deblur. |
| Visible grain or noise | Choose Denoise. |
| Blocky compression around edges | Choose Fix JPEG Artifacts. |
| You are unsure which problem dominates | Start with Auto Detect. |
How to restore your photo
1. Add the image and choose a task
Upload one JPG, JPEG, PNG or WebP image up to 25 MB. Select the relevant Restoration Type, then click Clean Up.
2. Compare detail before saving
Look at faces, lettering and fine texture beside the original. If the result smooths away detail you wanted to retain, try a lower Restoration Strength in the advanced controls. Review the charge before running it again.
3. Download the version you want to keep
Use Download to save the PNG result. Keep your original separately so you can compare later versions without treating an earlier restoration as the source.
Restoration is not a record of missing detail
A cleaner image does not prove what an indistinct feature looked like. Do not rely on restored lettering or facial detail as an exact reconstruction. Choose the result for its usefulness to your task, rather than assuming every sharpened detail is correct.
Common questions
No. This tool accepts one image at a time.
Use AI Photo Colorizer for that separate task. The restoration controls here address blur, noise and JPEG artifacts.
If you still have the print, a sharper scan with even lighting may provide more useful detail than repeatedly processing a poor copy. Avoid glare and capture the whole photo. Save an untouched scan before trying restoration.
