Make an MP3 version of your WAV recording for sharing or playback. Choose the bitrate, and keep your WAV original for later editing.

How It Works

Step 1Choose the file
Step 2Set the bitrate
Step 3Save the MP3

Choose the file

Choose one WAV file, up to 100 MB, and wait for it to load. If you have several takes, convert the one you intend to share first.

Keep the WAV original separately. Converting creates a new encoded copy; the MP3 should not be your only copy of a recording you may edit again.

Set the bitrate

In Options, set Quality to 128, 192, 256 or 320. These values are kilobits per second (kbps); the default is 192.

Choose a lower bitrate when file size matters more, or a higher one when you can allow a larger file. A higher number won’t recover detail missing from your recording. Listen to the MP3 before you decide which version to keep.

This tool produces MP3. Use Quality under Options for the conversion and leave the separate Output Settings controls at their defaults.

Save the MP3

Click Process WAV to MP3. Listen to a quiet passage as well as a loud one, then check the saved file’s size against any attachment limit. The tool attempts an automatic download shortly after processing; use Download to save it manually.

If local processing can’t finish, try a smaller file or review the cloud option and its credit charge before continuing.

Questions about WAV to MP3

No. Convert one WAV at a time in this workspace.

Prefer to keep a high-quality working original and make the MP3 sharing copy after editing. Repeated lossy exports can accumulate quality changes. Retain the WAV when you may need to revise the recording later.
