Normalize the loudness of your audio

Choose a loudness target for your recording and save an audio copy. If you start with a video, you’ll get audio from it, not a new video.

How It Works

Step 1Choose a loudness target
Step 2Process and check the result

Choose a loudness target

Upload one MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG or FLAC recording, or an MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM video, up to 500 MB. Device limits may require cloud processing for a file below that upload limit.

Choose Loudness Target under Options. Loudness Units relative to Full Scale (LUFS) describe overall perceived loudness. If someone has given you a delivery specification, start with the target they ask for.

PresetTarget
Standard (default)-16 LUFS
Podcast-16 LUFS, loudness range (LRA) 8
Broadcast-24 LUFS
Streaming-14 LUFS
YouTube-13 LUFS
Apple Music-16 LUFS

To use a loudness preset on its own, leave the other sound controls unchanged and keep Format at mp3. Combining other adjustments with a target can change how the preset is applied.

Process and check the result

Click Process Normalize Audio, then save the result with Download. An automatic download may start after five seconds.

Listen to a quiet passage and a loud one. If you need to meet a delivery specification, measure the downloaded file before sending it. The preset name alone doesn’t confirm that your file meets every requirement.

Keep the original video separately if you’ll need its pictures later.

Questions about Normalize Audio

No. Normalization adjusts loudness; it does not identify and remove unwanted background sound. Noise may become more noticeable when the recording is raised in level. Clean up noise separately and listen again after normalization.

No. This workspace processes one file at a time. Use the same target for each recording and compare the saved results.
