How It Works
How to shorten the pauses
1. Upload your recording
Choose one MP4, WebM, MKV, AVI, MOV, MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC file, within the uploader’s 500 MB limit. Before you start, listen for pauses you want to keep.
2. Set the pace
Begin with Sensitivity at Normal and Buffer Around Speech at Normal (200ms). The buffer controls offer room around speech; Min Silence Duration, in the advanced controls, lets you choose which pause length to target.
3. Process and listen at the cuts
Click Process. Listen across each cut, especially where a new sentence starts, and watch any accompanying video. Check quiet words and breaths before deciding whether the pacing feels natural. Download the result and open the saved file before you use it.
Choose how much space to leave
| If you want… | Consider… |
|---|---|
| A little more room around words | Relaxed (300ms) or Wide (500ms) under Buffer Around Speech. |
| To target longer pauses first | Long (1s) or Very Long (2s) under Min Silence Duration. |
| A tighter cut | Tight (100ms) under Buffer Around Speech, followed by a careful listen to word endings. |
A pause can be part of the meaning
Not every quiet section is disposable. Leave room for emphasis, a change of speaker or a deliberate break. If a result cuts off a quiet phrase, keep the original and revise the settings before another run.
Common questions
Yes. The uploader accepts the listed audio formats as well as video files.
Use Trim Video when you know the start and end of the section you want. Silence removal is a different task.
Yes. Pauses can carry meaning or give a listener time to absorb a point. Review cuts around sentences, breaths, and changes of speaker. Keep a copy of the original so you can return to it if the edited pacing feels rushed.
