Copy the passage you want to translate from your document first. This workspace takes text, rather than a PDF or Word file.
How It Works
How to translate a passage
1. Paste the text into Source
Enter up to 50,000 characters in Source. Keep complete sentences together. If your document is longer, divide it into sections that retain enough context to understand each passage.
2. Choose both languages
Select Source Language, or leave Auto-Detect selected. Set Translate To to the language you need. The target list includes English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Arabic, Hindi, Russian, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai and Indonesian.
3. Translate and save
Click Process. Review names, numbers, negations and specialist terms against the source before using Copy or Download. For example, check that “do not cancel” has not become an instruction to cancel. The download is a text file.
Text translation does not reproduce a document layout
Pasting a passage does not transfer the original document’s page design, images or form fields. Use the result as translated text and place it into your document separately.
A fluent translation can still change a qualification or use the wrong sense of a term. Ask someone who understands both languages and the subject to review wording that matters to your use.
Common questions
No. Paste the text into Source. If you need to extract words from a PDF, use PDF to Text first.
No. Auto-Detect is a Source Language option. Choose the output language yourself under Translate To.
Check names, numbers, product terms, and abbreviations against the source after translating. Give ambiguous terms enough surrounding context. If a particular spelling or approved term matters, correct it in the final document rather than assuming the translation will choose it consistently.
